Asos shirtdress
H&M skirt

Back from an amazing festival and reunited with my camera! I took this shirt dress to wear at SGP but didn't get round to it because it was boiling hot until the last two evenings where it rained ferociously. But seriously, could a piece of clothing look any more like a magical secret garden? :)

Barely back from Barcelona and Benicassim festival before I'm off to another festival tomorrow. This time it's the Secret Garden Party, a bonanza of music, art and craziness with the theme of "Superstition" so here's some of what I'm packing. :)

Ps. Since I'll be away without internet again, I won't be replying to comments but when I get back I'll catch up on everything, I promise (I have SO much to catch up on but I'll get there).

There's something about a smile with black lips that I love. I like black in photographs/paintings because I think it brings a sense of realism. You can make shadows whatever colour you want, but in real life, we know the deepest, darkest shadows as black and only black. This sort of (possibly crazy) thinking is why I always feel the need to balance a light outfit with dark shoes. :)

A significant amount of the clothes I have bought recently have been pastels. Significant because pastel is not a territority that I would associate with my style but who cares. This dress is one of the most beautiful yet comfortable, light and summery things I own and when I chanced upon it in a vintage shop in Williamsburg I knew I couldn't let it go. Also I love this length! :)

Sometimes I like to mix it up and take photos in the dark, well ok, this is more twilight. I'm amazed at the quality of my lens in the dark, 1/6 was the slowest shutter speed it needed! Also I don't wear this dress as much as I should because it's surprisingly hard to pair with other clothes and also everytime I wear it, at least one person tells me it's a nightie. I bought it as a dress so I'm gonna wear it as a dress ok. :)

Ps. I'm in Barcelona with my friends at the moment, living the backpacker lifestyle which means no internet, no computers/smartphones, and not even a real camera (feel my heart breaking) so I've scheduled posts and won't be replying to comments until I'm back.

Subconsiously inspired by Madeline I wore a dress as a shirt although it kinda failed and just looked like I'd forgotten to button up the bottom of my dress... Anyway, also introducing my plan to wear cute/embarassing accessories from when I was younger and my new babies (the boots, duh). So these Office boots are a copy of the Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane boots which are a copy of the Balenciaga cut-out boots, which I have lusted after for months but never dreamed of acheiving until I bumped into the Coltranes in a random shoe store in Boston. Long story short, I had to have these boots and after drawing up a list of possibilities, these Office boots were the result. :)

Back home after a sweltering and slightly surreal trip to London (which included seeing my favourite band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes live!!), I'm finally getting into this heatwave thing. Especially when it means shooting in the afternoon sun. More soon. :)

Ps. I just watched Spring Breakers (which by the way is full of incredible wistful girl bffl hot summer nights vibes) so the colours of this photo are inspired by Harmony Korine's beautiful use of neons and light.

vintage skirt reworked by my mom
Asos crop top, gold cuffs and earrings
Primark shoes
necklace from a store in Rusholme
bag from India

So this is my prom "dress", actually a fancy skirt with a jersey crop top. I'm very picky about dresses (don't like strapless, thin straps, cap sleeves etc etc etc) so I started looking through vintage shops in London for more interesting cuts and patterns. The first dress I fell in love with was a patterned cream fifties dress with long sleeves and a boatneck but the hem fell right on my knee, a length I don't like (like I said, picky) so that was a no. The next time I went to the same shop though, I saw a beautiful patterned maxi dress and had no second thoughts. This skirt had a black velvet long-sleeved top half but it didn't fit me brilliantly and had a v-neck (read: picky) so I made the executive decision to chop the top and skirt apart and wear the skirt with a this top. I'm more of a separates gal anyway. But then my mom decided she didn't like the pleats so completely redid them herself, adding in the gold waistband. :)

Ps. Sorry about the unimaginative post titles as of late. I'm running on little sleep and a jet-lagged schedule.
