I'd say I'm moving away from pink but that would be a lie. It's more like I'm exploring other colours on the stereotypical 5 year-old girl's radar. Today was a cerulean day, but mostly by accident since I had exactly 5 minutes to get dressed and my floor-drobe proffered up random articles of clothing, including these tights I did not know I had. :)

My father came back from Hong Kong yesterday evening with this top for me, solving the problem of what I should wear today. White with purple is a weirdly unexpected colour combination so I eventually decided to go for a glamourous 1930s inspired look. Never say my wardrobe isn't eclectically international! :)

Zara hat (on my friend the mannequin)

I was super excited for the latest Meadham Kirchhoff / Topshop collection because MK is one of my favourite designers for the way they have a very defined vision but articulate it in such wildly different ways each season. (Also: sparkly and fluffy and freaky/adorable stuff.) Plus I am a sucker for anything even vaguely Surreal so I fell in love with the eye and lip print used throughout the collection - I'm was actually wearing matching eye earrings (complete with real fake eyelashes!) but you can't see in this photo. I bought a couple of pieces as an early Christmas present to myself then gave them to my parents to wrap up for me to open on the big day so I've been itching to wear this, literally for months! :)

Taking photos in the studio at the end of a long day when the song "Come on Eileen" seemed to come on shuffle every few minutes (and is still in my head). This tiara, part of my Christmas present from K (which also included decapitated Barbie heads!! Yeah, I like weird things.) prompted quite a few strange looks and questions about why I was wearing a tiara to school. "Why would I not wear a tiara to school?" was and forever is my answer. :)

I spent the weekend location scouting and taking photos of plausible bomb sites for my existentialism project. Obviously, I took the opportunity of outfit photos in the wintery golden afternoon light. I don't normally wear pencil skirts to explore abandoned buildings but I wanted to dress vaguely 40s, as in Simone de Beauvoir. :)

Riverside

Something from when I went down to London at the end of December and we went on a walk around the forgotten East End, finishing on a little beach on the bank of the Thames. In the (out-of-focus) distance behind me, we could see the City, Shard and all, shining in the winter sun. :)

Ark coat
Zara hat
American Apparel disco pants
Office boots

Ps. I did have more photos from this day but I cannot find them anywhere… praying they didn't get accidentally deleted.

The novel freedom of wearing wacky clothing to art school (because everybody is too busy doing their own weird thing to think you're weird) wears off once you start doing actual work and spend your days surrounded by potential spillages. Although I'm practically dreaming of pink, fluffy, floaty things at the moment, early morning wake-ups and long days surrounded by pots of ink makes me go for something less…. spill-tempting. Also I wanted to wear my cute new top. :)

I feel I'm dressed like a combination of kindergartener and kindergarten teacher today, and I am A-ok with that. The baby pink tights with the patent shoes give off an obvious (yet totally adorable) child vibe, even if they are wicked cool points instead of mary janes. I actually saw a child on the train the other day with glittery silver tights and I was incredibly jealous. Yes, she may have been in the region of 5 years old but she was rocking that leg-wear. Also I believe this is my first posting of this blazer since its reincarnation. It used to look like this until I got bored of deer and inspired by Phiney Pet so off I went collecting patches and badges on my travels. Note the kangaroo (Sydney), the Washington memorial (where do you think?), the snarling panther (Amsterdam) and the Isabella Blow badges (London). And have I mentioned that everything I want to wear these days is pink? I didn't know I owned so much pink. :)

Ps. This is one of my favourite outfits in a long time!

Cheap Monday boots

You probably wouldn't be able to tell from my shoe collection but I have a serious love for pointy shoes. Pointy toes just make me feel so rockstar and ladylike all at once. After the untimely demise of my pink suede/metallic pointy flats (I maintain that my mother secretly threw them out) and the degradation of my pointy leopard boots (I'd love to take you guys out more but you're seriously falling apart), I've been on the lookout for the perfect pointy boots. Dylana and Natalie Suarez's Modern Vice boots are gorgeous and would be a serious contender but are totally out of my price range. Enter Cheap Monday's cubed and ankle-strapped beauties via an editorial I posted earlier and Karen of Where Did U Get That. And, um, hello, these ones are glossy patent. :)

I really feel like a Prada lady in a car coat wearing this… somewhere between the 40s and the 60s. It also really reminds me of one of my collages. As you can see I did give in to the pink coat trend (although in my defence it looked more tawny on the website) and also generally pink everything. This necklace is a acquisition from the Isabella Blow exhibition at Somerset House; there's not much I love more than cute wearable things that reference other art. :)
