In the Labyrinth

feather headdress and fluffy earrings made by me

Tinned Bananas swim/bodysuit (bought at SGP)
highwaisted shorts made by me

I've been busy crazying it up at Latitude and Secret Garden Party festivals so taking outfit photos was not a priority. Unbelievable, I know, but sometimes I actually prefer to live rather than snap away. Anyway luckily my friend A got this great photo of me with my new best friend, a mirrored mannequin in a secret leafy passageway. Right after this was taken, a guy came and asked us for a glitter makeover as he thought we were working on that stall, which was quite a compliment to our appearance! :)

K's Birkenstocks

I feel like I look like Bianca Jagger in these photos… I made these shorts a couple of weeks ago and have barely taken them off since because they are so comfortable, so breezy, and probably the perfect shorts. I didn't have enough of the turquoise goldfish print fabric so had to use some leftover green patterned cotton for the back but now I can wear them with either colour at the front! Kind of. :)

I spent last week volunteering at Latitude festival and I'm currently at the Secret Garden Party, so it's safe to say I'm living the festival life. "Festival fashion" never fails to make me roll my eyes but it is a good excuse to randomly pack all my colourful, summery, wafty clothes and laze around in fields with my friends. Since taking outfit photos at festivals is nigh-on impossible (since my camera doesn't come with me), I shall be recreating some of my favourite combinations to photograph and blog. This kimono is one I made out of fabric from China and I love it so much, I'm going to make some more as soon as I get my hands on some appropriate fabric and some time! :)

Lazy Oaf jeans

As someone who has recently made their first pair of jeans by hand (stay tuned), I am all for fun jeans that take the hard work out of my hands, and these high-waisted ones are almost perfect (apart from the messy stitching…). My excuse for wearing these three days in a row is that I'm "breaking them in", but really I just can't get enough of this jazzy print. :)

pinafore made by me
River Island shoes

Inspired by Meadham Kirchhoff pinafores and my current fascination with an ultra-girly frou-frou look, I made this pinafore, entirely out of left-overs from past projects. Five layers of organza was a pain but I really, really love how it turned out! :)

River Island dress
Cheap Monday shoes
old denim jacket revamped by me
Asos sunglasses with star diamantes added by me

So this dress is the third full-skirted 50's-style midi dress I have in pinks and blues - clearly I know what I like. But I don't care because I love the postcard print of this fabric (reminds me of a tropical fish postcard print fabric I failed to get in Amsterdam and will regret until I find its doppelgänger). It also reminds me of Prada's SS12 Hot Rods collection (an all-time favourite), so I wore it with my much abused denim jacket which I recently re-did with racing flames inspired by the same collection. :)

Miss Selfridge dress
Asos printed bomber jacket
feather tiara made by me

I wore this outfit several weeks ago and I don't remember, but I must have been in a crazy psychadelic mood because maaaan so many florals. I am very very picky about floral prints and usually dislike them, but there's something about the daisy print on this dress that I like, and I could not pass up on the hyper-colour wackiness of this jacket when my mom offered it to me. And it matches so well with this neon feather tiara I made three years ago! I'd forgotten all about it but I just pulled it out from the depths of a drawer, and I think I'm going to redo it a little then wear it all summer! :)

Monki tights
American Apparel blue scrunchie
old black and white scrunchie

This was something I wore on one of those days where I woke up and had 10 minutes until I had to leave the house, but I really like how the random combination of slices and flowers and colours in this outfit turned out. :)

I've been in a white mood recently but I live a way too creative lifestyle to actually manage to keep an outfit white all day so I've been going for pastel prints like these. I am so in love with this skirt, it's all my pastel, kitsch, Japanese dreams come true. The print even includes an adorable little milkshake eraser!

Also today I ran into one of my favourite bloggers and current number one style icon, Helena of Bell's Fashion, who was in Manchester to shoot with We Are Cow. It was so lovely to meet her and she looked colourful and funky as always! :)

dress and halo made by me

I used this star print fabric in my sari for my project, but I had loads left over so I made this little dress with the leftovers (and I still have enough for something else). It's the same as this green dress but with longer sleeves. I wore this to be vaguely Americana on the 4th of July but it would also work for Christmas! And why not wear it with my halo? Apart from the fact that I kept getting caught in door frames while wearing it… :)

top and trousers made by me
Cheap Monday boots
H&M bag
anklets from India worn as necklace

I made this trousers a couple of weeks ago and although I rarely wear proper trousers (non-leggings, non-jeans, non-disco pants), they are so comfortable that I've been wearing them for days on end. And they look so adorable with little bandeau tops. I've made several of these because they're so easy, so comfy and so damn cute, but this one with gold stars is my favourite and seems to match with everything! :)
